Foundation Mosaic

Aims:

the purpose of the course is to introduce participants to the medium of mosaic expression and develop the knowledge and skills in contexts of mosaic representation.

You will learn how to choose a suitable subject, how to select appropriate materials and learn the skills required to achieve a small mosaic.

This is a fun medium, which has a wide scope for individuality of expression.

The foundation course is a pre-requisite for all other classes.

Topics

• Mosaics. Their history and popularity.
• Designs and design styles.
• Suitable materials.
• Cutting and shaping techniques.
• Commercial application, obligations and liabilities.
  

Duration

3 hours per week for 6 weeks.

Cost

Tuition: $150.00 or $30.00 per week.

Materials: Glue, Grout and thick-sheet additional cost and all available for purchase at the Studio.

1^st Week

• Lead pencil
• coloured pencils, crayons or textas
• Note book
  

2^nd Week

• Tile pinchers
• 2 old butter knives
• Margarine/ice cream containers
• safety glasses
  

Other materials to be bought as required

• Rubber gloves
• Tungsten scriber.
