Stepping Stones

Aims:

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the skills and processes of making Stepping Stones.
You will learn how to mix concrete, use moulds, embed objects into wet concrete (for using materials of different thicknesses), engraving into concrete, use indirect method to fix glass tiles and direct method of fixing to create original and personalized stepping stones.

  • Process of making Stepping Stones.
  • Concrete mixing.
  • Indirect embedding.
  • Use of moulds.
  • Engraving.

Duration

This is a intensive weekend course. 
Starting on the Friday night from 7pm to 9pm.
Saturday from 9am to 12 pm and from 1pm till 4pm. Please provide your own lunch or take advantage of the many cafes and pubs in Strathalbyn. Tea and coffee is provided at the studio.
The finish day is Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

Cost: 

$150.00 for the full weekend.
By the end of the course you will have five distinct and personal stepping stones.


Materials to bring

  • Pencil and paper for notes.
  • Objects to embed into wet concrete for the Saturday class.
  • Rubber gloves.
  • Suitable clothing.
